Wailing Ritual

October 22, 6:30 – 10pm

These rituals were inspired by grief rituals done with Joanna Macy. We begin with a grounding meditation, an overview of community grief ritual, then a talking circle where participants share briefly about what losses they are dealing with. We put on music to stretch and move to, calling us to get embodied. From that we provide steady drumming (on our beautiful mother-drum, pictured above) as backdrop to our “wailing ritual” when everyone is invited to express their grief somatically and vocally in whatever way feels helpful. This is the heart of the ritual and lasts about an hour. We end with song, get grounded with root vegetables, have another short talking circle and then bring closure to the evening.

This ritual is offered for a suggested donation of $25, but no required fee. We do require RSVP so we can give instructions about where we meet and where to park. Email info@sacredgroves.com

Please eat dinner before you arrive and plan to arrive between 6:15 and 6:30.
