Sacred Fool Festival 2010: July 2-3


This year’s theme: We celebrate the spirit, the sillyness and the absurdity that is Dr. Suess!!!

Master of Ceremonies for this Event is Van Calvez, the Grand Fool himself!!!

Come dressed up, up up up as the pup in a cup OR
as a Dr. Suess character named Crup OR
be a Feiffer-feffer-feff OR a Heifer-heffer-heff
OR come as a Dr. Suess character dressed as yo sef!
Come as the Bofa on the Sofa or Silly Sammy Sox!
Come as Sam I Am or as the Fox in the Box!

Bring your Dr. Suess costumes, tongue twisters and hits!
Bring your bongbeezlers, your hangtoodlers and your hipple sneezebringlers!

Who:
This party is especially for kids (of all ages) who just want to run wild, be silly, play games, make a mess (without their Mother finding out!)

When:
Friday evening, July 2nd: We gather around 6-ish, share a potluck dinner (barbeque) in the meadow followed by our third annual

Un-talent Show THE ALL THINGS SUESS REVIEW!
Here is your chance to do your best (or worst!) Dr. Suess dramatic reading, tongue twister, skit, performance or song. Use an actual Dr. Suess story or make up one of your own! We’ll also have Dr. Suess speed reading and tongue twister contests!

Saturday day, July 3rd: The Cat in the Hat Party!!!
Whether or not the sun is so sunny,
the Cat in the Hat has lots of fun games that are funny.
Come and play with the Cat in the Hat!
You can dress up as Thing 1 or Thing 2 or some Thing like that!
Or you can be Little Cat A, B or Z!
Or you can you someone like Sally and me!

Following the Cat in the Hat Party we’ll have our Grand Finale, the
Hallowed and Sacred, World Famous and All You Can Eat
Sacred Fool Festival FOOD FIGHT!
followed by slippie-slide and sprinkler and hose play! (photo below shows why the “water play” is a good direction to go after the food fight!)

Lodging & Facilities:Families are welcome to set up a tent and camp here around the meadow Friday night. The Moonlodge is available for a few women/girls to stay and there are a few indoor beds available too. These beds can be reserved on a first-come, first served basis. The kitchen and bathrooms are nearby.

Suggested Donation: Suggested donation for overnight camping, breakfast Saturday and hanging out at the Groves for two days is $20-30/per person if you stay overnight; $10-15 drop-ins. Children free.

Food: All meals are generally in a “pot luck” mode, with the following themes:

Friday night Dinner: Food for Politically-Correct Barbarians so we’ll get the barbecue fired up. Bring whatever eco-meat you want to grill or roast (organic meat, free range fish, endlessly petted chicken weenies, locally caught tofu, compassionate veggie burgers), plus a side dish (veggies, rice/potatoes/bread, desert).

Breakfast Saturday: Tere and Therese will provide a big pot of oatmeal and various delightful things to accompany. Bring juice or fresh fruit and other breakfast items that you want. Bring your own coffee. We’ll provide teas, whole milk and half/half.

Saturday Lunch: Cat-in-the-Hat Party POTLUCK

Food for the infamous food fight: everybody bring several choices of soft food, e.g. boxed mashed potatoes, jello, soft fruit, twinkies, ketchup, whip cream, ice cream!

What to bring:

  • A willing attitude for play, letting go and being REALLY goofy
  • Food for eating–see above
  • Costumes, crazy hats, wild clothes
  • Sparklers for our 4th of July thrill
  • A Dr. Seuss reading, song or skit for the Un-Talent show-.
  • Songs and stories to share around the camp-fire
  • Accessories and equipment for the various events (e.g., balloons for the water balloon fight, squirt-guns etc.)
  • Camping gear:, tent and ground mat (unless sleeping indoors), sleeping bags, pillows, flashlight
  • We will provide pans & pots for cooking, plates, utensils, cups etc.
  • For the Food Fight bring food that is fun (and safe) to both eat and/or throw. For this one meal, let go of your worries about waste! Try to eat as much food as you can off your body and we’ll compost the rest. Suggestions: mashed potatoes, creamed corn, mac and cheese, jello, puddings, canned fruits (without the can), marshmallows, whipped cream and other soft, safe, tasty, silly food. Please don’t bring food that could hurt others when thrown!
